Jacob Woods

MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Originally from Utah, Jacob spent many years living in New York, where he greatly enhanced his nursing practice. Graduating as valedictorian from the State University of New York, he gained invaluable experience in neuro intensive care at a comprehensive stroke center. His tenure there included advanced training with the palliative medicine team of the hospital, providing care to patients nearing the end of life and their families.

Through these experiences, Jacob cultivated a profound empathy for the emotional rigors of illness and loss, deepening his understanding of the transformative impact of life’s transitions. Returning to Utah, he furthered his expertise in emergency and trauma medicine, as well as quality improvement and medical review spanning over 15 medical specialties.

Driven by a passion for holistic care, Jacob pursued advanced education at Gonzaga University in Washington, earning his NP degree. Realizing how much psychiatric care could support people in staying well and finding their way back to wellness, Jacob decided to complete the psychiatric mental health track. His enjoyment of listening and his belief in caring for the whole person made psychiatry the right choice for him to provide personalized care to his patients. Jacob believes strongly that the journey to wellness is best achieved through a collaborative approach where both patient and provider work together and agree upon a plan that will ensure optimal outcomes.

Recognizing the intrinsic connection between physical and mental well-being, Jacob emphasizes a comprehensive approach that extends beyond medication to encompass conservative strategies for enhancing emotional wellness and daily functionality. Eager to accompany individuals on their journey to healing, Jacob offers a welcoming space where stories are heard, and paths forward are navigated together.

Outside of the clinic, Jacob enjoys fitness and weightlifting, hot yoga, cooking with fresh ingredients, traveling, and taking his two Shih Tzus for walks (although they often demand to be carried halfway through). He embraces diversity and proudly provides LGBTQ+ affirming care, extending an open invitation to all seeking his guidance and support.
