Conditions We Treat

Depression

Depression is a disorder that makes it difficult for a person to feel happiness, satisfaction and purpose. Effective treatments include medication management with an experienced provider, ketamine and spravato treatments, lifestyle modifications including an improved diet and exercise regimen, and working closely with a therapist. In-person and virtual psychiatrists are here to provide all options to help you transform your life.

Anxiety

Anxiety and worry can be normal, helpful emotions that encourage us to act, change and problem solve. However, there are times when anxiety can cross into the territory of generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), which can cause excessive anxiety and worry that is difficult to control. If you are feeling anxious more days than not, over a period of 6 months or more, you may be struggling with GAD. We are here to help you navigate through your anxiety to reach a more peaceful and centered state of mind.

PTSD Treatment in Salt Lake City by Leading Psychiatrists

Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can be a severe and disabling disorder. Some symptoms of PTSD include flashbacks of the traumatic event, intrusive thoughts, hypervigilance, and sleep issues. This almost always leads to social, relational, and occupational troubles. We have great empathy for the real and lasting effects trauma can leave. There are many treatment options, including Ketamine, which can offer healing for those with PTSD.

Ketamine Treatments

Ketamine is a psychedelic medication that has been used as an FDA-approved anesthetic for over 50 years. It has both dissociative and anesthetic effects. More recently, it has been found to have strong anti-depressant effects when used at very low doses. Ketamine has been studied to effectively treat depression, suicidal thoughts, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and eating disorders.

All of our psychiatrists at Lone Peak Psychiatry in Salt Lake City have specialized training in safely and effectively using Ketamine to treat patients. Our providers are leaders in the field of Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and train other psychiatric providers in the community to provide this specialized approach.

Spravato Treatment

Spravato (Esketamine) is a nasal spray medication that is used as a treatment for adults with treatment-resistant depression. It is usually used in conjunction with an oral antidepressant and is administered in a medical setting under the supervision of one of our psychiatrists in Salt Lake City. The medication works by affecting the levels of the neurotransmitter glutamate in the brain, which can help to improve mood and reduce symptoms of depression. Treatment with Spravato typically involves regular visits to a healthcare provider for monitoring and adjustments to the medication regimen as needed.

Improvements In Symptoms

Ketamine has been shown to have positive effects on treatment-resistant depression, including rapid onset of action and significant improvement in symptoms.
